Supply Chain forecasting

2023 was a landmark year in our SAP journey with successive internal availability records broken, against a backdrop of reduced waste and inventory.

That performance has continued into 2024:

On this basis, we’ve decided to increase our availability targets, better reflecting our current performance, our long-term confidence in our system and our consistent delivery of what matters most to our member owners and customers.

Our updated availability targets are as follows:

Rationale for the changes

Before calculating these new targets, we reviewed our current performance and the industry benchmarks recently shared by IGD. These areas include:

  • Cigarettes & Tobacco – this category is undergoing significant change so additional flexibility in our targets is appropriate. Additionally, the opportunity to release working capital into our business through the reduced inventory required to deliver a lower availability target is a benefit.

  • Food to Go – waste continues to be a focus for us and reducing our FTG target provides additional flexibility to manage this.

How will we achieve this?

These updated targets reflect our current run-rate on availability which means that significant intervention isn’t required. Continuing to deliver at this level is about consistently doing the basics well.

How can you help us?

The below table details our Supply Chain view of supplier performance.  For strategic suppliers, this’ll have been shared with your Supply Chain teams through their regular meetings. If this isn’t the case, please reach out and we’ll be happy to discuss further.

Our ambition is for all suppliers to be operationally competent as a minimum. This provides the minimum level of data accuracy and operational stability that SAP needs to function well.

If you feel you have opportunities to improve on the above metrics and haven’t received the necessary support from Co-op Supply Chain to do so, please do reach out to the relevant contact – listed below.

We want all strategic suppliers to be Operationally Excellent, with this paving the way to other value-add projects. If you feel there are opportunities we haven’t considered with you in this space, again, please reach out to your relevant contact – listed below.
